Dr. Paula Lintin, PhD, PSB94022839
I originated from England and arrived in the United States in 1998 with clinical training in psychoanalysis. I have worked in the behavioral health industry for over 20 years and hold a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology. Prior to moving to California, I practiced as a LMHC-Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington and additionally held licensure in the state of Maine, practicing at the Sweetser Family Institute as a LCPC-Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
During my professional career in Counseling Psychology, I feel fortunate to have been exposed to a wide range of work environments including;
Legal/court systems advocating for children and families with at risk youth, mediating with couples and families during divorce proceedings, acute psychiatric hospital settings providing crisis intervention, brain SPECT imaging, substance abuse counseling, residential and outpatient treatment, family, couples and individual therapy in private practice. This wide range of experience allows me to maintain a holistic perspective and value the many things impacting a person’s life. In therapy, I work within a theoretical orientation of family systems theory. I honor a strengths based focus and approach the work with narrative therapy.
You are not the problem; the problem is the problem. There are times in life when challenges are especially present. To find a breathing space, meeting with a counseling professional like myself, to sit with you, spending time to stop, contemplate and unravel whatever may be holding you back from reaching your full potential and happiness, can be a valuable experience.
The counseling relationship provides you with an opportunity for self -exploration, taking time to uncover your personal strengths, no matter what crisis may be happening in your life. As a counseling professional, I have a deep respect for your own expertise regarding the life choices you have made so far.
Some of my areas of expertise include:
- Relationships; couples and families
- Depression, grief and loss, bereavement
- Individual psychotherapy for anxiety
- PTSD, complex trauma
- Personality Disorders
I look forward to working with you. Thank you ~ Dr. Paula Lintin
